God the Holy Ghost (Dove)
God the Holy Ghost...The descending dove is the only symbol for the Holy Ghost. "The Holy Spirit descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son, in Thee I am well pleased" (Luke 3:22). We acknowledge the work of the Holy Spirit who through the Word and Sacrements leads us to confess Jesus as our Lord and Savior. "No one can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost" (1 Corinthians 12:3). The Holy Ghost grants us His gifts (symbolized by the seven flames): "the Spirit of the Lord, wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of God" (Isaiah 11:2).
